Ernest Morningwipe
UPDATE 1-17-2010: In honor of Ernest’s 3 month birthday, I have given him some artificial intelligence (by integrating a php AIML interpreter). So now, he might respond back if you tweet at him.
Ernest Morningwipe is the result of a harmless, automated Twitter script that was created as my 2009 Halloween joke. Creepy and fun, eh? We use similar advanced Twitter marketing techniques for our clients.
How It Works – What the bot does is monitor twitter conversations across the globe (by periodically grabbing the RSS feed of a twitter search) and notices whenever someone says something like, “I’m lonely. Who wants to cuddle with me?” or “Going fishing… who wants to come out on the lake with me from midnight to 3am tonight?” Then the bot does some magic (removes some words, replaces others, and spins a few phrases) and submits a status update like the following:
@JennieGirl12 Darling, you have no idea how much I want to cuddle with you.
@ThomasNardDog Babycakes, I would love to come out on the lake with you from midnight to 3am tonight.
Here are the latest replies to Mr. Morningwipe and here are some of our favorite posts and replies. Mr. Morningwipe usually posts between 300 and 600 times per day.

How can this be used to make money? Great question. These advanced twitter marketing techniques are used by some smart individuals to market their product or service on Twitter…. not used very often, though. Most people don’t even know that it is possible, and if they did, they wouldn’t know how it would be done.
For example, one of my clients is a doctor, and whenever someone in her city tweets about being sick, having the flu, coughing, sneezing, etc., she automatically follows them. A percentage of those she follows become new patients.
Another client is using a script that automatically retweets useful messages that are about entrepreneurship and small business. This helps him build goodwill and brings new clients right in.
How much is one new customer worth to you?
